PINAIIMBESTIGAHAN ni Senador Leila De Lima sa Senado ang ulat na pagkabigo ng Department of Health (DOH) at iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan na ipatupad ang contact tracing laban sa COVID-19.

Sa inihaing Senate Resolution no. 457 ni De Lima, nais nitong imbestigahan ang panibagong kabiguan ng DOH para masolusyunan ang pagkalat ng nasabing virus.

“The problem of contact tracing remains a persistent issue that needs to be addressed as it gravely affects the government’s ability to formulate an effective public health response to the pandemic,” sabi nito.

“An investigation is necessary to look into the failure of the DOH and other concerned agencies in effectively carrying out our tracing efforts and mandate these offices to expeditiously implement corrective actions noting their inability to flatten the curve and control the increase in positive COVID-19 cases nationwide,” giit pa ni De Lima.

Paliwanag pa nito na sinabi na ng World Health Organization (WHO) officials na mahalaga ang contact tracing para labanan ang pagkalat ng sakit kung saan inamin ng DOH na nangangailangan ito ng karagdagang 94,000 contact tracers.

“If unacted upon, the slow contact tracing can lead to more preventable infections and further delay not only our COVID-19 containment efforts, but also our economic recovery,” sabi nito.

Sa datos aniya ng Worldometer, ang Pilipinas ay may 35,455 kabuuang kaso ng COVID-19 infections at naitala na pang-15 sa pinakamataas na antas mula sa 49 bansa sa Asya. (NOEL ABUEL)
